The Theater opened in 1918 with a street creation of a melodic from London and New York called Chu Chin Chow. In the early years, George Gershwin musicals and Al Jolson surveys graced the Shubert arrange. John Barrymore played Hamlet in the 1920s and vaudeville was highlighted in the 1930s. Different entertainers included: Helen Hayes, Katharine Hepburn, Sammy Davis Jr., Angela Lansbury, and Laurence Olivier. During that time various profoundly acclaimed Broadway, off-Broadway and one night exhibitions have been performed at the theater.
